“And so forth on the stuff in there . . .”

Palmer D. Evans (1918-2003)

These are words my father would say while his brain was arranging what he was going to say next in a conversation; this was more or less his rendition of a simple “um” or similar sound us humans make to cover the brief pauses for thought we have while speaking to one another.  This expression was unique to him, and everyone who knew him recognized that it was Palmer Evans speaking with them.

These things are the stuff of great remembrances, obituaries, and farewells commemorating a life well-lived.

My name is Larry Evans, and I am one of Palmer’s sons.  I am here to help you with one of the most difficult yet most rewarding things you will do in life, telling someone’s (it could be you) life story in their honor to an audience who also know and love that person.

I write Remembrance and Eulogy Speeches that relate these often amazing stories, obituaries that weave threads of your loved one’s personality through mainly factual information about his or her life, and Farewell Speeches that leave your loved ones a priceless remembrance of your life by having it written while you are able to tell your own stories — an honor to be bestowed on a loved one whom you choose to deliver it at your memorial service.

I deliver Eulogy speeches within 72 hours once I receive the information and stories I need to write.  I deliver Obituaries in 24-48 hours.  If the need for the speech is not quite as urgent, I have the opportunity to spend more time crafting the words to make the perfect Eulogy or Farewell speech.  I will do my best to accommodate your schedule if at all possible.

Excellent storytelling in writing takes time, and although this might seem counter-intuitive, a sharp 3-minute Remembrance speech tailored for time constraints takes as much if not more work than a longer speech to get just right.  My custom-written speeches — I don’t use (no stinkin’) templates — depending on the stories told, have a run-time of as short as 3 but ordinarily about 8-15 minutes (approximately 1,500-2000 words).  I find a unifying theme and embroider your loved one’s stories seamlessly into the fabric, creating a speech that will hold the audience’s rapt attention.  My work isn’t done once the speech is finalized — I will also coach you on delivering the Eulogy at the Memorial Service.  I have 35 years experience advising and coaching performing artists in music, on screen, and in theatre on how to best present their art on stage

My Obituary writing is more than a notice of a death, location of services, or recitation of facts about a person.  I analyze information you provide me, research the loved one’s social media pages and other Internet resources, and put together a presentation that will make a reader who might not have known the loved one well, if at all, feel as if he or she knew them as a good friend.

I can help you create something very special for your loved ones with a Farewell Speech.  You will create life-long memories for them, and not just at your memorial — ten or twenty or more years later, the text will remain to remind them of just who you were, and will give those who come into this world after your passing a wonderful idea about whom their ancestor really was as a person.

My fee for these services is $500 for a Eulogy Remembrance Speech, $250 for an Obituary, or $500 for a Legacy Farewell Speech, paid in advance via Square Invoices.*

*Once I deliver a speech or obituary to you, even in draft form, there is no incentive for you to pay my fee once you have my writing in hand.  That’s why you pay me in advance.
